Healthcare Information Technology Exam Guide for CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician and HIT Pro Certifications, 1st edition, Kathleen McCormick

This book helped tremendously to help me prepare for my HIT Implementation Support Speciailist Exam. The content was spot-on and the on-line quizzes you can access helped me get a feel of what types of questions to expect.

This book is a good review for the HIT test. I also like the practice test that it has. It is like the actual test in the number and type of questions that are on the test.

While this book provided a foundation and good review for generalized health-care topics, it was not suitable for the HIT Pro exams. It needed to be more targeted and specific for each of the 6 exams. While I passed the two exams I took, it was not due to the information in the book.

The book is an awesome production, with useful, up-to-date content. The book is well organized and illustrated generously. Those seeking certification and those seeking just to be informed will find this an excellent investment.

I passed my HIT PRO and CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician exams both using just this book and the practice tests that come with it. Very pleased with the book, and am using it now to study for a second HIT PRO.

For anyone that wants a really good resource for Health IT, especially those who have gone through the Health IT Workforce Training Program, I highly recommend this resource/book. It's well done and covers the material really well.

While this book has been written as an exam guide and a traditional text book, it should be added to the library of any healthcare professional seeking a comprehensive Healthcare Information Technology reference.

I give this book very high marks for topicality, usefulness and usability. The book is appropriate not just for people intending to take the exam, but is a superb resource for anyone who wishes to understand U.S. health care and health IT. The book is comprehensive in scope. The first sections include detailed descriptions of the U.S. health care system's delivery and payment mechanisms. For example, it contains clear and comprehensive discussions of cutting edge models of health care delivery, such as accountable care organizations and medical homes. The explanations of implications of these models on development and use of health IT are especially useful. Further chapters include discussion of factors affecting effective adoption and implementation of HIT including the roles of management and human factors. The sections on regulation, security and privacy are timely, detailed and extremely important, especially in light of constant reports of privacy breaches. There is also a section on how healthcare IT `works', which includes clear and comprehensive descriptions of how information is stored and can be accessed . This section includes multiple diagrams and screen shots which really help make the information clear. Understanding of the way databases are organized and their advantages and limitations is fundamental for people who wish to use databases for research or public health. For people planning on taking the certification test there are several special features including use cases, exam tips, exercises, chapter reviews with question and answer sections, and additional references. In short, this is an extremely valuable resource for all who currently, or plan to work in health care, and especially for those who wish to take the certification exam.

On the mark. Today's IT professionals face a learning curve when it comes to healthcare and the unique industry demands for an HIT career. This book is both complete and well written for a wide variety of audiences from existing IT professionals to healthcare professionals who want to add IT capabilities and credentials.

Well formated resource for preparing for the health IT certifications. Plan to use it to help me prepare for the exams. While the book appears large it is full of valuable practical exams to prepare.
