OK slightly better than TechNet.
I'm thinking they wrote this book too early in the SCCM 2012 product lifecycle.
A bunch of filler inside that frankly no better than whats on TechNet already.
Additionally found :
Slight differences between RTM release capabilities than what's listed in the book
Large differences between SP1 capabilities than what's listed in this book.

Big fan of other unleashed series of books.
This one falls a bit short of expectations.

Will buy other unleashed books..but tough to recommend this one unless you know nothing about SCCM 2007 or SCCM 2012..AND have no access to TechNet.

Having read almost all pages, I must say I'm surprised with the technical knowledge I gained. It was quite a job for me as English is not my first language, but the used words are luckily not too complicated. I passed my exam 70-243 after reading this book. I would really recommend this book, just as a guide during the job, as well as for study purposes.

I've been using this book as a reference during multiple sccm 2012 deployments. This books has great detail and walks you though all the necessary steps to get up and running.

I'm new to SCCM with the 2012 version, so I needed something to help me learn how to use it. This book was one of the only ones available at the time I ordered it. I've read through most of the book, some chapters several times. It has become a handy reference manual. It covers the basic concepts of SCCM, then dives in depth into each area to discuss what SCCM can do and how to do it. There's a lot of comparison to the prior versions of SCCM, which wasn't much help to me since I never used it, but that information should be quite useful to anyone upgrading from an older version.

The only downside to this book is that I bought it just shortly before SP1 for SCCM 2012 was released. SP1 was a major update to SCCM, adding support for Windows 8 and Server 2012, but also adding new features and changing how some things worked. We're using the SP1 version, so I've had to find information on those updates elsewhere in cases where the book had information that was already out of date. I can't really fault the publisher/writers for that, as SP1 came out about 9 months after SCCM 2012 was released, which is a relatively short time for such a big update to come out. Still, it would be great if, when a 2nd edition of this book is released, they offer chapters related to updates in SP1 as an ebook or web reference for those of us who own the 1st edition.

A great coverage of the new SCCM with feature coverage of the new changes and differences between the 2007 version. Thorough coverage of new features.

A great reference book for any SCCM 2012 administrator to keep on their bookshelf. If you want to get SCCM 2012 deployed and setup then combine this with the book by Deployment Fundamentals and you can bypass the hurdles and be productive much sooner with confidence.

Pretty much a nuts-and-bolts explanation of how/why sccm 2012 works. This covers the components involved, how to set stuff up, design/planning considerations, covers the roles, and has been a very helpful technical reference book. I wish I'd had this book when I first implemented SCCM 2012 about a year ago.

Having looked at the sample for Kindle Touch I found the images rather annoying in that I could not zoom in to them at a decent level of magnification so that they were readable. I also dislike the fact that the sample only covers a few non-technical chapters. Less space could be given to the history of system center and more about the nuts and bolts. in other words put more meat in the samples. I will certainly not buy this book on the merits of an overly verbose few chapters.
