This book, as compared to the All In One series, misses many important pieces of fundamental concepts. This is good if you are an InfoSec wannabee who has a bit of time to read at night. But if you are studying seriously for the CISSP exam, don't buy this one. Get it from ISC2 or the All In One series. Good luck!
This book is becoming one of "must haves" for studying for the CISSP exam. Several of my co-workers have used this book and passed the exam. I am in the studying process now, and find it very useful.
It provides a lot of good tips and techniques. It also has an on-line compendium at dummies.com.

It is well written, well organized and well presented.
The authors stay on point with material while keeping you inerested while reading.
This is a great book to start your stude and get a base knowledge. This will help you when you get to the dry technical books lile the CISSP CBK Book or the all in one CISSP Exam guide.
This updated book is very well writen and is a great last book to read before the exam. I used CISSP Study Guide, Second Edition.

The CISSP is the most popular and arguably most valuable information security certification. While SANS GIAC certifications are technically more intensive, the CISSP is the 900-pound gorilla of information security certifications.
For those looking for a CISSP review guide, CISSP for Dummies, despite its title, is a worthwhile reference.
The book provides a thorough overview of the (ISC) ² Common Body of Knowledge (CBK). The CBK is a collection of 10 topic areas most relevant to information security.
Printed in August 2012, the book covers the most current iteration of the CBK.
The book provides a good balance between depth and breath, and does not get bogged down in minutia like some other CISSP study guides.
The only negative thing about the book is that the author's suggest a 60-day study plan for certification. I have found that for most people 60 days may be a bit aggressive. 3-4 months is a good guideline to use. That gives a person one week per CBK module (and 2 weeks for the cryptography domain), with time for a review and break in between.
The book also includes a 250-question practice exam which can give the ready a relatively good feel for how likely they are to passing the exam. Note though that this practice exam like most, are written by security professionals, not a psychometrician; so it should be taken with a grain of salt.
Most CISSP test strategies recommend using 2 main books for CISSP preparation. For those looking for a practical and useful guide to preparing for the CISSP exam, CISSP for Dummies should definitely be one of those two guides.
This book does not dig deep enough to give the reader enough knowledge to pass the CISSP exam. You will definitively need other sources. I suggest Shon Harris books as an addition.
I am involved in studying for the CISSP to add to the other certifications I already have. This book and the online sample test are a real bargain for the CISSP certification seeker. I have been using a variety of books and study techniques for this very difficult test and the CISSP for Dummies book seems to be a great tool to add to my CISSP studies library. Thanks for producing this great book and giving me another valuable study resource.
